We are making strides to be GREEN!

Kermit the Frog once sang, "It's not easy being green." Of course, recycling and saving energy wasn't what he had in mind. However, if it was, I am confident he would have changed his lyrics to, "It's easy being green (if you have a plan and a team of people willing to make an effort)!!!!" Lucky for us at the Hampton Inn, we have a plan and a team of extraordinary individuals who want to make strides to ensure that our property is "green" and is doing it's part to help the environment. Our management company, Vista Host, has encouraged us to create a sustainability plan that breaks down what each department within our hotel vows to do to contribute to our green initiative. For example, the sales department has obtained several recycling bins, one for paper, one for cans, and one for plastic bottles. They have been very vigilant in making sure that nothing but garbage goes into the trash. They also work with a company called Cartridge World which refills ink cartridges for printers. Instead of throwing away a cartridges when it's out of ink, Cartridge World will refill it for us! Not only does it save another piece of plastic from being unnecessarily discarded, it saves you money. Purchasing ink cartridges from a store can be extremely expensive. Getting a cartridge filled is a fraction of the cost! These simple things go a looooooooooooong way. Just being conscience of the impact that you are having on the environment, as a company or an individuals, and just the slightest shift in how you normally do something can make all the difference in the world. We are finding that out very quickly. In the coming months we hope to host a "green themed party" at the hotel which will of course celebrate our guests, but will also celebrate our sustainability plan.

Have a wonderful day and remember to put energy into helping the environment! :-)
